Product Description
Rigging rings are high-strength aluminum rings perfect for making retrievable false crotches, slings, or other customer rigging tools. Running the rigging line through the center hole these rings can be used on spliced slings or false crotches in place of a rigging block.
- Extreme width
- Maximum bend radius
- Machined 6061 aluminum
- Hard-coat anodized
Low friction rigging rings have become a popular alternative for replacing traditional pulleys. Instead of rolling on a pulley sheave, the active line passes through the center hole in the ring and merely slides on the inside smooth radius of this toroid shaped geometry. Another line is spliced tightly around the outside groove of the ring and then spiced back onto itself to create a loop. This loop can then be wrapped around the tree in a choker hitch configuration to secure the rigging ring to the tree. While there is some added friction from the sliding action the frictional loss is generally small. In many applications this added friction is actually welcome as it helps to somewhat reduce the force required to control the load. Lighter, smaller and less expensive than a conventional pulley block, low friction rigging rings are also less prone to failure since there are no pulleys to crack or bearings to foul.
Extreme duty TR series rigging rings offer exaggerated width for improved bend radius. Designed in conjunction with arborists, the TR series rigging rings are designed for extreme duty.
The FR series low friction rings offer increased wall height for complete line security. The thinner wall width reduces weight which is useful for sailing applications where reducing weigh aloft helps with performance.
